Fulham was formerly the seat of the diocese of "Fulham and Gibraltar", and Fulham Palace the former official home of the Bishop of London.

Fulham has history in the amateur boxing world and in football. The first amateur boxing matches fought by the sporting Aristocrats of London were held in fulham. Its also the home to two main FA premiership league teams which both have extensive history in football; Chelsea and Fulham.

Fulham during the 18th century had a reputation for corruption, becoming a sort of "Las Vegas retreat" for the wealthy of London, where there was much gambling and prostitution.
Fulham than became a working class area for the first half of the twentieth century, but was subject to extensive restoration between the Second World War and the 1980s because of huge collatoral damage caused during the Blitz. Due to this restoration Sands End has a lot of contemporary styled terrace houses in similarity to most suburban areas in London, decades after the war before the 80s the councils erected council flats and council blocks.

Jepson House is a contemporary tower block erected years after the main council housing at pearscroft road had been built. making it the most contemporary building in the current estate.
